I just love this recipe, it’s one I’ve made for decades. I still remember those early days in Grandma’s tiny kitchen off Fulton Street, no bigger than two metres square, yet always full of good food and laughter.
We’d pick fruit from her fantastic garden, potatoes up the side of the house, hens down the back, and spend whole days turning the harvest into jars of preserved goodness. That kitchen saw everything: Sunday roasts, huge Christmas dinners, fruit cakes, and the preserving lessons that shaped me for life.
She lived to 95, leaving behind an incredible legacy of good food, family traditions, and a love for the garden. This sauce is part of that legacy, and now, I’m sharing it with you.
